QAES enters Greece – Energy Storage Day Athens

On 29–30 June 2026, QAES Europe and PowerSales hosted the Energy Storage Day in Athens – marking QAES’s entry into the Greek market, hand in hand with its local partner PowerSales.
A small circle, by design – on both days
We ran the identical programme on both days and, on each, welcomed a deliberately small group of guests. The format put dialogue before the stage: every guest had direct access to our engineers and market experts, room for confidential, project-specific business-case discussions, and time for genuine one-to-one exchange. Two identical days meant more partners could take part – without diluting that depth.
The Greek storage market at a turning point
Greece is at a turning point: rising solar output increasingly meets curtailment and near-zero midday prices, while evenings command a premium. Under the country’s 4.7 GW storage programme, batteries are becoming the tool that shifts the midday surplus into the evening – turning a grid problem into an investable business case. Our market session mapped where the value sits today and where it is heading.
Meet the makers – and a world premiere
In our „Meet the Makers“ block, QAES engineers walked guests through what sits behind the product: the safety concept, testing and certification, quality and R&D. The highlight was the world premiere of the Direct Immersion-cooling Luminary Nova-781, developed with TotalEnergies – a DC storage system built for the highest safety and a longer lifetime, well suited to Greek summer conditions.

From spec sheets to business cases
Instead of a slide marathon, we ran real numbers. Using a live calculator and an anonymised real case, we showed how a commercial-and-industrial site and a merchant/arbitrage project actually pay off – with every assumption open for guests to challenge and adapt to their own project.
„The Greek market has moved from comparing spec sheets to a single question: what does storage really earn, safely, over its lifetime. That is exactly the conversation we had in Athens.“ – P. Papagrigoriou, Executive Director Europe & Western Balkans, QAES Europe GmbH
Local partnership, on the ground
Technology only delivers with a partner on the ground. Together with PowerSales, guests saw how projects are supported locally – from design and commissioning to operation and spare parts.
„Greek operators don’t just need hardware – they need a partner on the ground. With QAES we bring world-class technology and local service under one roof.“ – Dimosthenis Stampas, General Manager, PowerSales (quote for approval)
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Athens. QAES and PowerSales will keep working hand in hand to bring safe, high-value storage to the Greek market.
